Made in China - The Estella Collection

  • Date iconSeptember 18 2007 - March 1 2008
  • Curator(s): Suzanne Landau
  • Painting, Sculpture, Photography, Installation, Video, Works on paper
Made in China featured nearly one hundred works by some sixty artists from one of the world's largest collections of contemporary Chinese art, the Estella Collection. Thus the ongoing interest of the Museum in the culture of this ancient nation culminated in a presentation of the most recent chapter in the history of Chinese art. Comprising painting, sculpture, photography, installation, video, and works on paper, the exhibition offered an insight into the many currents that are energizing Chinese art today and provided an introduction to a visual culture that is making its way, at lightening speed, to a prominent position on the international art scene. The exhibition was organized by the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Denmark.
