In the Beginning
Prehistory and the Origins of Myth
- July 13 2005 - April 22 2005
- Curator(s): Debby Hershman, Associate curators: Fawzi Ibrahim, Heftsiba Cohen-Montagu
Rare 10,000-year-old treasures shed light on the origins of belief and reveal the reality hidden behind creation myths- the true story of how humans created religion and gods. More than 200 finds from prehistoric sites in our region - including masks, sculptures, and modeled skulls - take us on a journey to the sources of religion and mythology. The exhibition present objects from the Museum's own unique collection, among them finds believed to be some of the oldest ritual objects in the world, supplemented by major loans from Israel and abroad.
