Victor Vasarely: Toward Op Art

  • Date iconApril 1 2024 - September 30 2024
  • Curator: Nirit Sharon Debel
  • Kay Merrill Hillman Gallery

Pioneering painter, sculptor, and designer Victor Vasarely is known for the optical illusions he created in his work, paving the way for the Op Art movement that flourished in Europe and the United States in the 1960s. The selection of geometric works presented in this intimate display reflects an important stage in Vasarely’s artistic development, when he created forms that seemed to move and break through the surface of the sheet. These intriguing, dynamic forms foretell the deceptive visual effects that became the artist’s trademark.
