The Werner and Gabrielle Merzbacher Collection was, to a large extent, a well-kept secret until the presentation of this landmark exhibition. It was principally known to museum professionals, who drew upon it for loans to art institutions world wide. This landmark exhibition provided the public with an opportunity to explore for the first time the range and quality of this remarkable ensemble of Modern Art treasures.
