Hagit Lalo

Spirit and Form

  • Date iconJanuary 13 2016 - May 14 2016
  • Curator: Dr. Amitai Mendelsohn
  • : Hagit Lalo (Shtriet)

Hagit Lalo (Shtriet) was born in Israel and studied art in the United States during the 1950s. Unlike the reality based abstract painters active in Israel during those years, who were influenced by the French art scene, she embraced American Abstract Expressionism and sought to pour out her thoughts and feelings through the interaction of shapes, lines, and colors. Featuring a first-time display of the Museum’s collection of her drawings alongside selected oil paintings, the exhibition inaugurates a gallery space named after the artist, who died in 1961 at the age of thirty.
