Masterpieces of German Expressionism from the Die Brücke-Museum Berlin: Die Brücke (The Bridge), founded in Dresden in 1905, was one of the leading avant-garde groups of the early 20th century. Revolutionary in both theory and practice, the works created by its members were characterized by glowing, pure colors and simple, strong lines. This major exhibition of 140 works includes paintings, drawings and prints by the group's leading exponents, Kirchner, Heckel, Pechstein, Schmidt-Rottluff and Nolde.
