Passover is the holiday of Spring, a time when we experience the reawakening of nature.

Ever since the lyrical descriptions in Song of Songs, the natural beauty of the land of Israel has inspired artists. Zooming in on works from different periods, this film offers a glimpse of the revealing ways in which styles, perceptions, and motivations changed over a century of artistic interpretations of nature in Israel.

Picasso said of him: “he must have an angel in his head”; his paintings are exhibited in the great museums of the world; his stained-glass windows adorn the opera houses of Paris and New York. This multi-disciplinary artist was also a proud Jew and fervent Zionist, born into a Hasidic family and originally named Moishe Segal. You probably know him as Marc Chagall.

Follow journalist-actress Romy Neumark as she traces Chagall’s footsteps in the Israel Museum and the Knesset State Hall, where his magnificent tapestries tell the story of the Jewish people. Intertwining the biblical text and modern history, Chagall weaves a picture of exodus, exile, ingathering, and a messianic vision of peace.
