Archaeology/Chalcolithic & Canaanite Periods

When Canaan became part of the Egyptian Empire, a large quantity of stone vessels produced in Egypt reached the region. Most of these vessels were made of Egyptian alabaster, but their Egyptian origin is inferred from their shapes as well. Although the possibility that some local imitations were produced should not be ruled out, the current evidence indicates that the vast majority of the calcite vessels found in Canaan came from Egypt.
