Wagenfeld began developing the idea for this lamp when he joined the Bauhaus in 1923. Often referred to as the Bauhaus Lamp, it was first produced in the metal workshop of the Weimar Bauhaus, under the guidance of Làszló Moholy-Nagy. Although some modifications were made over time, the lamp’s basic components - a round plate, a cylindrical pipe, and a spherical shade - never changed.
