In the synagogue of the Portuguese community, the calendars for counting the omer are divided into three rows: one for the day in the omer (H for homer - omer in Spanish); one for the number of weeks gone by (S for semanas, “weeks”); and one for the number of days elapsed so far in the week (D for dios, “day”).
