Storage jars found in all of Judah's major cities and bearing royal stamps on their handles appear to have been used for the collection of food in anticipation of war. Each stamp bears the inscription "Belonging to the King" along with the name of one of four Judahite cities - Hebron, Socoh, Zif, or the undientified MMST - where the provisions were probably stored. Some of the jars were also stamped with the names of officials. Digital presentation of this object was made possible by: The Ridgefield Foundation, New York, in memory of Henry J. and Erna D. Leir |
