Tunisian man’s attire
Early 20th century One typical feature of Jewish Tunisian men's dress was the black band at the bottom of the trousers. Tunisian Jews considered this to be a commemoration of the destruction of the Temple, although it may have originated in a government edict. On the street Jewish men wore a long, wide cape (burnous). The hood of the cape fell onto one shoulder, and the lower edge of the cape was thrown over the other shoulder.
