Georgian woman's attire
Tbilisi Late 19th - early 20th century The Jews of Georgia dressed like their neighbors. Until the early 20th century everyone wore traditional dress, with the fabrics and colors differing from one region to another. After the penetration of European influences, traditional garments were reserved mainly for ceremonial occasions. The outfits displayed here were characteristic of the women of Tbilisi; the cut of the coat that emphasizes the waistline is typical of central Asia and can also be seen in the Bukharan garments in the exhibition.
