Esther scroll and silver case decorated with scences from the scroll story
Germany 19th century Scroll: pen and ink on parchment Case: silver, etched, engraved, pierced, cast, and partly gilt Inscription in Hebrew: "So they hanged Haman on the gallows which he had put up for Mordecai" (Esther 7:10); "Then Queen Esther daughter of Avihail and Mordecai, wrote..." (Esther 9:29); "And the city of Shushan rang with joyous cries" (Esther 8:15).
