Gift of David Berg, New York, to American Friends of the Israel Museum, In memory of his mother Ida Berg
Accession number: B82.0741
A late 18th century Axminster carpet.
This interesting carpet shows the last vestiges of the influence of Robert Adams with its use of anthemions and scrolls in the design, which also shows the beginning of the 19th century taste for more florid design in its use of heavy spray of summer flowers.
