A George III Mahogany Breakfront Side Table in the manner of Robert Adam.
The design of this table clearly shows Robert Adam's influence on the furiture of this period - the basically simple form, but embellished with many of his motifs: the anthemions, the pendant husks and the paterae on the frieze, and the fluted legs and their collars of stiff leaves and guilloche ornamentation. The mahogany top was designed to show important pieces of plate, as well as to be used as a serving table.
