A George III silver sugar basin by Andrew Fogelberg and Stephen Gilbert, London 1782. Andrew Fogelberg came from Sweden, where he appears to have received his training, establishing himself in London in about 1770. His work is mainly neo-classical in style, but as can be seen by this basin, shows a marked continental influence in the heavier treatment of the decorative elements. Publications: The Eighteenth Century English Dining Room, Israel Museum, Jerusalem Digital presentation of this object was made possible by: The Ridgefield Foundation, New York, in memory of Henry J. and Erna D.
