A George III oval silver tray by Thomas Crouch and Thomas Hannan, London 1784. Thomas Crouch and Thomas Hannan were specialist makers of salvers and trays. Large trays, such as this example, were used in the service of tea and coffee, and this tray has a particularly fine engraved bright cut border, and a second border of fringed drapery with ropes and tassels.
