Talking Heads: Portraits and Texts from the Vera and Arturo Schwarz Collection of Dada and Surrealist Art

September 12, 2006-June 24, 2007
Location: Nathan Cummings Building for Modern and Contemporary Art
Curator: Tami Manor-Friedman
In homage to the renowned art collector Arturo Schwarz, who donated his collection to the Museum in the 1990s, publications and writings were chosen from among the treasures in his library and displayed alongside portraits of prominent figures in the Dada and Surrealism movements. In addition to presenting the book as a work of art, the exhibition revealed something of the revolutionary and pioneering spirit of the writings and their authors.
