Droog Design: Dutch Design for the Nineties and Beyond

April 14, 2000-August 19, 2000
Location: Palevsky Design Pavilion
Artist: Gijs Bakker, Renny Ramakers
Curator: Alex Ward
Media: Design prototypes and manufactured furniture pieces, light fixtures, and accessories for the home.
One of the most exciting developments in design in the 1990s, Droog ("dry") Design rebelled against over-design and the personality cults of designers, and advocated a "back-to-basics" approach, minimizing waste by recycling existing or found objects and encouraging the use of new materials and cutting-edge technologies for old forms.
