Drawings and paintings by some of the most prominent Russian artists in the first half of the 20th century, including Kazimir Malevich, Natalia Goncharova, Mikhail Larionov, Vladimir Tatlin, and Natan Altman. Combining elements from the major contemporary art movements in Europe - Fauvism, Cubism, Futurism, and Orphism - with local folk art, they formulated a new language which ultimately led to the emergence of abstract art. The works in the exhibition - on loan from the State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow, and private and public collections in Israel - span the period from before World War I until the years of artistic decline that followed the Bolshevik revolution.
