One of the first houses built in Tel Aviv in 1909, Mani House hosts works from the Museum’s collection for the third time. This show features photography, video art, drawing, and sculpture by Israeli and international artists, focusing on the modern city and the experience of living in it over the past century. The Modernist architecture, shop windows, and residential buildings depicted in some of the works emphasize the play of geometric shapes, at times offering criticism about the consequences of urbanization. The urban lifestyle, the individual’s confrontation with the city, and its socioeconomic texture are foregrounded in another group of works. Andre Kertesz, Alfred Bernheim, Absalon, Ido Bar-El, Gilad Ophir, Johanna Billing, Cao Fei, and Hannah Starkey are among the artists represented.
