"The Schulhof's Dream" by James Turrell
July 1, 1992-January 1, 1993Location: Unspecified location
The American artist uses light the way other artists use paint, as a tangible substance. His installation in the Billy rose Art Garden - a rectangular opening cut into the roof of a square white room with stone benches - is built within one of the garden's hills. There is no object and no image. At twilight time the color and light combine to evoke a spiritual experience.
