This exhibition of over 85 works by Henry Moore (1898-1986), one of the most important and beloved sculptors of the 20th century, was the sixth in the Modern Art Department's ''Focus on the Collection'' series. Featuring sculptures, maquettes, drawings, prints, and illustrated books (many recently bequeathed to the Museum by the late Charlotte Bergman), the exhibition explored central themes in the British sculptor's work such as the reclining figure, mother and child, and life during the London Blitz. The collection highlighted Moore's creative fusion of human and natural forms and his profound ability to portray fundamental emotional states and relationships.
