Aya Ben Ron

Aya Ben Ron's First Aid Book takes the reader back to the anxiety aroused by any book on first aid or emergency instructions. It is part of an entire kit that describes, inter alia, the evacuation of casualties in a broad, colorful, pastoral landscape. The instructions, which are entirely fabricated, unrealistic, and sometimes amusing, are given in a detached, imperative tone alongside pictures of first aid-givers and casualties.
Drawn in a uniform black line, the impersonal figures manifest complete, dispassionate control. Their expressionless faces belie the desperate condition of the maimed casualties. On some pages, the sharp lines make it hard to distinguish between the helper and the casualty, and the confusion only deepens when the artist's instructions are addressed to the victim himself.

איה בן רון הוציאה לאור את ספר האמן עזרה ראשונה. הספר מחזיר את הקורא לחרדה הגלומה בכל ספרי עזרה ראשונה או הדרכה לשעת חירום. זהו חלק מערכה הכוללת גם תיאור של פינוי פצועים בנוף פסטורלי צבעוני ופתוח. בספר יש הוראות מופרכות, בלתי מעשיות ולעתים משעשעות הכתובות בשפת ציווי קרה, לצד דמויות של מגישי עזרה ראשונה ופגועי גוף. הדמויות משורטטות בקו שחור אחיד המייצג שליטה מלאה וריחוק, ופניהן נעדרי ההבעה מנוגדים למצבם חסר האונים של פצועים קטועי איברים. יש דפים שבהם הקו החד והברור מקשה להבחין בין מגישי העזרה לבין הפצועים, והבלבול עוד מתעצם כשהוראות האמנית מופנות אל הפצוע עצמו.
