Vered Kaminski Vered Kaminski is a silent virtuoso. Informed by the discipline of a long formal education, she is well versed in the language of jewelry. Kaminski clearly prefers hand-making to industrial techniques, and her design process involves well-defined and careful step-by-step research into materials and forms that explore variations on a theme. She constantly reassembles fragments in order to form unique pieces that share a common genetic identity. After returning from her studies in Paris in the early 1990s, Kaminski began to introduce into her jewelry local materials, such as stones she found in the streets of Jerusalem. Through noticing the texture of gravel on the streets or of stone in the façades of buildings, Kaminski moved toward an exploration of pattern. Observing and exploring the geometry of natural shapes such as tree branches inspired Kaminski to experiment with using lines to create three-dimensional volume. Following along the path of weaving in space led her to develop a series of basket forms, a natural progression for working in a larger scale. |
