Boltanski enlarged these 1931 class photographs from a Jewish school in Vienna to the point that the faces can no longer be clearly seen; the spotlights and the columns of tin boxes, each one a possible container of memories, and turn the artwork into a monument.

את צילומי מחזור 1931 של בית-הספר היהודי בווינה הגדיל האמן עד כדי טשטוש זהותם של המצולמים. קופסות הפח, שהן כעין ארכיון של זיכרונות, והתאורה הממוקדת עליהן הופכות את המיצב לאנדרטה
