A 6,000-Year-Old Nobleman

The Reconstructed Sandals

Though regarded as a pair, the sandals are not identical. Their reconstructed length is ca. 26 cm and maximal width ca. 13 cm, roughly corresponding to shoe size 39–40.

The sandals have an inner and outer layer. The two layers were attached with straps, without the use of adhesives or nails. They were cleverly designed to protect the toes and heel while providing ventilation.
